Match summary
Leon secured a crucial 2-0 victory over Monterrey at the Estadio Leon in this Liga MX encounter, thanks to a spirited performance that saw them overcome adversity. The home side took the lead in the 24th minute when J. Cortizo clinically finished off a well-worked move, assisted by D. Cambindo. Monterrey struggled to find their rhythm, with R. Chavez picking up a yellow card just before halftime. Despite a flurry of substitutions and a red card for Leon's J. Romana in the 66th minute, the ten men held firm. Their resolve was rewarded in the 79th minute when D. Arcila doubled their advantage, effectively sealing the three points. Monterrey's late attempts to salvage something proved fruitless, leaving them to rue missed opportunities and Leon to celebrate a hard-fought win.
